Riverside Museum & Tall Ship
The Riverside Museum is the first purpose-built museum created by Glasgow Life in the 21st century. Located at the junction of the Rivers Kelvin and Clyde, it houses the city’s fabulous transport and technology collections, which have been gathered over the centuries and reflect the important part Glasgow has played in the world through its contributions to heavy industries like shipbuilding, train manufacturing and engineering.
The Tall Ship is an independent museum committed to the preservation of the Glenlee as well as the maritime history of the area for the benefit of both locals and tourists in Glasgow alike. Now brought back to her former glory, the Glenlee is one of only five remaining Clyde built sailing ships still afloat in the world. Paying this impressive ship a visit will transport you back in time to experience life on the high seas. Visitors can explore the cargo hold, steer the wheel and visit the galley alongside guided talks and tours of the ship in addition to maritime themed events and activities. Explore the Captain’s Cabin or visit the mini-cinema with your little ones and let them put forward any questions they may have to the Glenlee’s ship crew for a fun and educational family day out.
Well worth a visit.
